SWAIN Analysis

What is a SWAIN? 

A SWAIN analysis is a basic skills assessment that allows a proffesional to analysis the skills and attributes to determine what jobs will suit them personally. This is one of the three step to finding employ ability these three stages include ;

1. Understanding your own skills and needs. 
2. Identifying an area of work that interests you. 
3. To articulate your skills though the appropriate language to an interested organisation.

To carry out this first step of proffesional awareness the SWAIN system is put in place is stands for :

S- Strengths- This will eaither be A) Your personal life for example you abalities such as listening  or B) In your student life e.g the use of proffesional programmes such as Photoshop.

W- Weakness- The weaknesses you hold not only personally but things that you may lack that you need to get ahead in your career.

A- Aspirations- This is your life goals whether they be to travel they may also include your academic goals such as graduating university. 

I- Interests- The interests that may attract you to a certain career and also allow you to suit that career.

N- Needs- These are the basic needs that you have to have to survive but also the ones you need to have a career. 

From this swain you can also create your personal profile this is the opening statement on you CV. As your employer will be looking for these skills to be highlighted. 

Complete a SWAIN on your self for both your professional and academic skills.
